Post SD Just Keeps Getting Better?

What a fun thing life can be. Last night I was reading a Post on Run with Jill's Blog. She had an interesting post sharing her Mt. Evans and Pikes Peak runs. All (correct me if I am wrong) are runs up 14,000 ft. or more Peaks in Colorado. Beautiful shots. Yet, while looking at them I started to feel a little queasy in my stomach and head. It was almost as if I was reliving why, even though I love Colorado, I just don't visit it much.

I have had some bad bouts of elevation sickness there. Especially, a memorable one in and near Gunnison, Co. Anyway, Jill, your photos literally made me sick :). NO not really. Each one of my kids have a had stomach virus 2-3 days apart starting with our youngest. Last night was my turn. So, Jill, thanks for helping to bring it out of me? :) Someday I will make a visit to Colorado saying hello to all the Colorado runners I follow.

I have a running Seinfeld joke about how long it is has been since I have actually thrown-up. Before an event 6-7 months back, it was 5 years. Guess I need to start a new. Last night twice, and once things were going on at both ends (sorry for the details, but it was not fun). After an AM of sleep and sips of Ginger Ale - things are starting to settle. I still feel like a truck hit me though. You know when each one of your beloved kiddos gets something and you nurse them along. You never quite feel the pain till it happens to you. I really feel for each of them. Especially, my oldest who got hit just as we got into the Residence Inn at SD. Each will get a big hug once home from School.

Follow-up on my right knee. Stiff and little sore. Nothing keeping me from walking. Yet, obviously, I have not run on it yet being sick today. I am actually taking the two things meeting up in life - stomach and right leg - as a sign I need some rest. Not sure how long, but if I am still going to get that Full in at SF - not too long.

Take care and have a great day.

Cheers!

Well my friend, that is a drag! Did you thank them for the lovely gift they gave dear ole dad??? Rest up, listen to the body, & don't push it too hard.

Ugh. Sorry to hear about the knee. Nothing like some pavement and hills of San Francisco to fix you right up! :)

Take care of yourself!

Thanks RBR. As long as the pavement isn't at 45 degree angles. I will never SD RR again. We had to walk 2 miles from Seaworld Parking Lot to then only stand for another 50 minutes at a Trolley Station to get back to qualcomm were the car was parked. All after running 13 miles, bum knee, four really tired sun drenched kids. One being still slightly sick. Bites!

rbr - sorry - clarification. as long as sf doesn't have 45 degree slants on the pavement as the 163 had at sd. it was the slant that bit my right knee more than the hills by themselves. i think i am good for sf. yet i am not sure if i do the full or half. check back in a few weeks.

Sounds like it's time for a little running vacation! You are far better served taking a few days off and letting everything get better than you are trying to push it.
