Still, why do we need a National Day for either one? Maple Bars and Cinnamon Rolls are actually my fav's and I am sure need a day of their own. Plus, well my running, is more of a National Mime Day thing.
Okay Taper? Not Tapir, thanks Kate. Taper is not my thing for this HM. NO run last night. It was my National Night to watch my UW Huskies Softball team get beat by Georgia in the Softball College World Series. Sorry, Danielle Lawrie. So, I did rest yesterday. This AM a short, slow and easy 5K. Mainly to get keep the mileage up, but also more for breaking the new NB 1062's in I cracked open last week.
I have been wearing and hoarding (since NB does not make them anymore) this shoe for well over a year now - going on two. I am not complaining - it is a great shoe for me and very loyal to it. Yet, with each shoe, being the same shoe - I have noticed subtle ( I typically like to pronounce the "b" as a hard "B" sound in this word, BTW) difference. I am having a hard time adjusting to this new one over the last. The last one felt really good right out of the box and stayed that way till my hips and knees said time for a change. Anyway, finally, after putting 10 miles into this new pair - comfort again.
Also, post run, I am feeling tired. Legs are okay accept I had some ankle hello's this AM. I am just feeling a need for a long afternoon nap if I can ever find the time. The cause of it is the change of temps here. We have gone from really nice upper 70's and low 80's for most of the last 2 months to near 100 overnight. 105 or more over the weekend here in Vegas. Good weekend to get out of town right? Well, unfortunately I have two and half more months of the 105's or more. Vegas Furnace Running is back! Can't wait for my 4:00 AM runs when it is already 95 and 25 mph winds blasting you. Fun ;) (sarcasm key)?
Oh well, off to SD, fun run, beach and zoo time for the kiddo's. Actually, they are pretty happy with the Residence Inn Pool over anything. The simple things in life are the best. I hope it stays quiet and simple all weekend. My wife is kinda dreading the whole trolley, shuttle bus system of not just getting runners to the Start from the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot - but herself and kiddo's to the finish to see me. Should be an adventure! Not really. I am sure it will all be very smooth.
Have a great weekend!
Cheers!
PS - Pictures above UW National Champ Cross Country Team, and Randy's. Never been there, so if one of my LA area blogging buddies can let me know .... . Middle one - nice shot of Danielle Lawrie Softball Phenom for my UW Huskies.

Randy's donuts is close to the LA airport and you have to stop and get a donut if you fly into LA! Good luck at the marathon! Posted my own Randy's photo here: http://gottarunnow.blogspot.com/search?q=donut
Mmmmm... Donuts! (said in my best Homer Simpson drawl...) My personal weakness is whip cream filled long johns - boy howdy! Have a great weekend Slomo but save the hubcap sized cinnamon roll for post-HM :-)
I love donuts! :) Have a great weekend!
I really thought donuts and running should be celebrated on the same day as well. :)
Good luck this weekend!
Is it Donuts or doughnuts?
Stacey - Hope you had a great bday!
Yes! Hubcap C-Rolls. I knew there was another of many reasons I need to visit Colorado! Thanx HT.
Tina - I usually fly in OC/John Wayne. The next I fly in LAX though!
I happen take National Donut Day VERY seriously and often prefer to give it the full month it so rightly deserves.
I will one day do a donut run. I am willing to puke for my bakes goods. I am that dedicated.
GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND! Can't wait for the report! Have fun!
Have FUN!
Oh I love softball.
HAVE A GREAT RACE AND SAY HI TO MEG! Good Luck!!!
good luck and have fun!
Good luck! I'll look for you in the morning!
You're welcome. :)
National Hiking Day fits in at some point in those few days, too.
And every July, in a town near here, we have the Tour de Donut, a 33 mile, three-stage race where you cram down donuts after the first two stages. 5 minutes from your ride time is deducted for each donut you eat. The "donut adjusted" winners are usually in negative time. One guy last year ate 30 donuts. I left off at 7 after weighing (haha weighing) my options and realizing that the extra 5 minutes for each additional donut weren't worth the calories I'd be working off later.
