Cold Smold Blow Away

Gone? For Good? I hope so. Actually, hope is not strong enough. IT BETTER BE the last one for many, many years! I have grade school age kids, so I am sure I will have another in two weeks. Oh well, such is what life is? I guess?

NO running since a week ago tomorrow. Unless you want to count yesterday. I thought I had enough of the yucks out of me for a run. Nope. I ran about 2 miles and had a coughing attack. Then I also had some ankle issues. Which is typical for me if I do not stretch my ankle, calves and feet fully. Cold as well, so once things stiffed up and hurt, very hard to get things loose.

I am feeling much better today. None or very little coughing, so I will try to get in my first real mileage in a week tomorrow. I must admit I really settled down and enjoyed the week off Holiday from running. My body should be well rested and well nourished for it. Yes, I had some nice Christmas treats and feast.

Christmas Eve, my favorite - Cioppino (Italian Seafood Stew). We make it at home. In fact, this year my wife made it and every Holiday dinner we have had this year. Very unusual for us. I am the family chef this time of year and, well, 80% of the time all year. My wife will be the first to admit she is not the best cook. However, this year she found something deep inside and made some really fantastic Cioppino and a great Prime Rib Roast for Christmas. So, I ate. I ate a lot! Tis the Season.

So, yeah, ready to be running again. Will shoot for 6-7 miler tomorrow. Tuesday, a shorter 5 mile tempo run. Wednesday off. Thursday (New Years Eve), 6-7 mile easy run. Friday off. Saturday 11-13 miler. Back in the saddle again.

Yes, Santa gave us most everything all of us wanted. Running gear - my wife/kids got me a Garmin Forerunner 305 (yes, I have one now), new tights (that are too tight), long sleeve T and something called a Titanium Healing Necklace? Not sure about that one? A good friend she works with who is a runner swears by it. Been wearing it for 6 months now. NO injuries and fast recovery times. Will see? Also, a box of Hammer Gels, and some Bodyglide. Everything a runner needs.

Hope everyone has a had great Christmas Vacation or at least a day or two celebrating. Here to a fabulous running New Year! Without Colds!!!

Cheers!

Happy Holidays! So happy you're feeling better! Hey, Kara Goucher wears that necklace and so does the famous woman runner from England...forgot her name...anyway, I NEED one of those if it prevents injuries. Keep us posted...and send a picture 'cause I've only seen ladies wearing those...not that you couldn't get away with it..you DO live in Vegas after all...anything goes, right? Sorry, I've been cooped up for a few days!
I'm happy that you FINALLY got your Garmin that you have secretly been wanting and now you can post all of your running details and become obsessed like the rest of us! Actually, I'm sure that won't happen. You're grounded. Anyway...nice new trail picture as your header!
Ok, I guess I'll go, thanks for the supportive comments, I'm on the mend!

Yea for the Garmin...very fun!

Hope you're feeling better very soon! I look forward to sharing the 2010 road with you.

btw, I was half thinking of Seattle RnR marathon in June. Have you done it before? The other I'm considering, the same weekend, is San Francisco.
