Odd morning for me in another way. My wife needed to be up at the usual 4:00 AM time I get up. It was not for running. Although I told her the shorts, long sleeve T and shoes are at the end of the bed ready to go! Her tongue sticking out at me was her only response. She needed to consult with nurses this AM on the night shift before their shift ended.
However, that left me up and ready to go! With nowhere to go. So, I have been sitting here for the last few hours in a very quiet house catching up on my reading list. Strange thing, when I am use to the constant sounds of a house at play.
I will run tonight. This will make two evening runs in one week. Yuck! As I have said, not my favorite time to run, but it is, what it is today. It will be a hill run. No repeats, but a 4 miler that I am thinking of stretching out to 6-7. It is on a hill that has a long steady steep climb. The route goes right by my favorite public workout facility. Great views of the Vegas Valley from all the Dreadmills and Ellipticals. I spent countless early AM's for nearly 6 months on them over a year ago. I just did not trust my Achilles, ankle and feet issues I had the last time I was on pavement. Today, I am very glad I spent that time on them before hitting the roads. Anyway, I will run in there and lift some weights after the run. Plus, the Administrator of the Soccer League I coach should be working out tonight. I can chat about the season with her.
Jerbear, thanks for your comments yesterday. Don't get me wrong about one thing. I enjoy reading your Blog and others. I love keeping track of your training and others. I learn a great deal from all the runners I follow and the places they live. However, mainly I enjoy your personal accounts of each training run, races and the personalities of each runner. It is fun. Runners are the best peeps! I learn a lot from each blog - ie the gift of the Whoopie Pie, ninja style and some really great Fall pix of South Dakota!
Fat Guy Running. Your blog has been interesting of late. Been fun to read where you are going next with your training. Keep grilling and what is your favorite meal to grill?
Meg Runs - Sorry, not a fan of evening runs. Your Vampire club will not include me :(, sorry. The Vampire title makes me think of the Twilight stuff too much as well. Really bad book, sorry if you read it and liked it. BS really does need to get his own lamp though. Especially if it keeps you and him running together at night. I never feel safe for my wife doing things like that at night - alone. We need all the best teachers we can get and we cannot afford to lose any of them.
Jamie Donaldson - good luck on the speech/talk. Your experiences and fetes are worth more than one talk. PBS/Nova should be knocking down your door for a special Badwater/Ultrarunner episode. Is there a return to Death Valley in the plans for 2010? Thank your friend Meredith as well for that great recipe. We tried it - even my finicky 10 year old liked it.
Happy Trails - Good luck with everything. We have you in our prayers. Can't wait for the next posting though.
Family in Seattle and especially my niece. Sorry, I will not be there this weekend to join all of ya. Just cannot pull away from things right now. Have fun without me, and someone get a Pagliacci Veggie for me and make a trip to Dicks or Spud! I miss ya. Have fun. My best to my niece and her upcoming Mission/Service. You will do well and grow a lot. I know the people you will serve, will learn as much from you as you learn from them. Your just awesome! Proud of you!
Oh, and Happy Birthday Adam Ant!
Cheers!

That's one of the reasons I like to read blogs so much too, to see all the DIFFERENT reasons everyone runs. I know there are a lot like me, and even more that aren't like me. :) It's what makes us all runners.
Oh no! Poor guy! A friend's teenager has been home from school all week, flat on his back! Poor kids! I hope he gets well soon, 9 is too young to be trapped at home, right?
Hope your run goes well tonight.
Yes, we'll have to find BS a headlamp. Thanks for the offer to set up a fund but maybe I can suprise him for Christmas!
Stay well one and all!
Wow. There's a name from the past. Mr. Goody Two Shoes. He certainly knew how to pick his women though (Amanda Donahoe, Jamie Lee Curtis, Vanity, and Heather Graham)!
Sorry that H1N1 can't seem to leave your household alone! We've been lucky so far. I hate saying that though. Don't want to put the hex on our house.
And my favorite thing to grill? That's easy! Anything! After all, I run because I eat! And I didn't become the running fat guy without socking away the calories.
