If I Could Only Run Like a Five Year Old?

Wow. Just spent 50 minutes tonight coaching 6, 5 year old girls in Soccer. Wow. I did that?

My kids have started playing by the time they were 5. This will be number three with my little girl. The really fantastic league they play in called needing coaches. They must have been desperate to call and ask me to do this? Since, they were obviously desperate I said yes. Succor for a good cause always. Especially when it involves kids. Even more especially when it involves one of my own.

Anyway not a sport I started to like or even follow till my late 20's. World Cup play is just about the best thing in the Wide World of Sport to me. Really enjoy all aspects of the event, much the way most watch the Olympics. Just really enjoy watching these great athletes play. Even more so, watching my own kids play.

It will be fun watching my little girl and her friends each week. Just amazed at how they can run. At my advanced age of 42 only wish I could run with so much boundless and endless energy.

My own running? Actually not bad. I am keeping an actual log at the RW website now. I have been putting in two pavement runs and one treadmill/ellyptical trainer run a week. The past two Saturdays I have been doing an uphill 3 miler that is a fairly hard slog. At least at this point. The other road work is a long, flat run for the week. Than I have been going Monday evenings for an indoor run/workout. The indoor is 50/50 treadmill and Precor buddy. Also 40/60 split of hill and flats. I have noticed a slight twinge in right calf and last night on the treamill some noticeable pain in my left Achilles. Will take two days off and see where I am at for a 5-6 miler.

My heart? Nothing new. Still some odd beats at times and fluttering. Never while running or after my runs. My heart rate - resting is pretty consistently near 60 - 66. With a few readings lower than 60 at times. Nothing new from my Doc, but I have not had the time for the blood tests. Will get in this week. Last week was the Dentist.

My new goal - to be able to run like a 5 year old again? Yeah, well maybe in the next lifetime?
