Soccer Coach Convention, but Does Anyone Know How to Play?

My running for this past week was so so. No Hill run for the week. Just one indoor and near 5 miler.

Ever have the feeling you should not do something, even though it's something you typically do on any typical day? I am not talking about I decided to not tie my shoes today, or I am going to wear my underwear on the outside of my clothes. I am talking about what a past friend used to call - "disturbance in the force" feeling. My faith and religious upbringing would call it something else, but I just hate using that vernacular on a daily basis. It is too - something? Over dramatic in way that says I guess my ordinary mundane life actually is meaningful in the grand eternal cosmic make up of the universe. However, when these disturbances do happen, I do take time to thank the source of them all (and that would not be Yoda). Being grateful for the small and simple things in life has a pretty profound effect on ensuring you have big things in life.

Anyway, it was well after 10:PM. Dark, windy and tad creepy of a night. Not sure why I had the creepy feeling? Maybe I just did not like the way the Palm Trees were blowing? The desert is not the best place to be running or doing anything outdoors when the wind is blowing over 12-15 miles an hour. Desert dust is very fine and has a lot of junk floating around in it. One unlucky inhale of this breeze disturbed fine grained geologic mix, and I can to be left with a hacking cough for a month. Plus, who knows? It may have some 30-50 year old radiated particle left over from an Atomic Bomb testing. Post Cold War regret anyone living in Nevada during that time wished - well wished they were not living Nevada a that time. Who knows why, but I don't get this feeling often. Just felt in my heart and mind - don't run tonight. So, turned around and went home after three blocks.

Soccer. Fun experience. 40-50 adults from early 20's-60's. By a show of hands only 25% of these would be coaches of 5-6 year olds had ever even played Soccer before. It showed in a fun, physical comedic manner than humiliating embarrassment . It was an on field Soccer Clinic. Taught by a funny 60 year old Irishmen. Who made it very clear to everyone, you actually need to do these drills yourself. Remember folks how can you teach something you can't do yourself. I agreed. So, I cut my three hour long clinic to only 2 hours. My 42 year old right calf which was one of the reasons why I did not run on that windy night, told me I cannot do what this 60 year old spry Irishmen could do. Amazing, scene though. Mostly middle aged parents talked into coaching at the last minute through the same desperate pleads that got me there as well. Majority who played something 20 years ago that did not involve much use of their left foot on balls. My knotted up right calf I think was the only real injury. Any embarrassed ego was kept in check by the fact 75% of us should not even have been there. Only there because we love our kids. So, when looked at it all that way - I guess there was no better place to be that day. Unless you missed your sons Basketball game. Which I did, but at least his out of town visiting Aunt was able to see him in my place.

Good day off yesterday from all things Physical after AM Church. Relaxed watching an all day Lord of the Rings Marathon. Fun story to watch again and perfect day to do it. I will make it an indoor run tonight and see how the rest of the week unfolds. Oh, forgot to mention previously but weight is coming down. Lot of it has to do with only being able to eat mashed potatoes, yogurt and other soft foods due to Dental work for about a week. However, I have lost 17 pounds since that frightful weigh in at my Doc appointment three weeks ago.
