Tooooo.... B Z!

Running in circles. Running in place. Spinning my wheels. Full speed ahead.

Pick one of the above? That's been me - little ole me - for the last week or more.

Family needs, kids needs, wife needs, realworld needs, Soccer team needs, and running needs.

I need a vacation! We need a vacation! A nice getaway one with my wife for a few days. I envy any and all of you who have family or Grandparents nearby to come live with kiddos for a day or two, or more; so Mom and Dad can play a little. Too long now since my wife and I have been able to pull this off - 4 years ago. Plus, that was the ONLY time we have been able to ever do it. Oh, well ....

Soccer season is upon my family. For the next 3.5 months it will be getting it on with all things that go  kick, pass and dribble on grass each weekend; and three nights a week. It is now that I fear injuries the most. As I turn 46 this year, I am finding my body is not absorbing well the happiness on the Soccer field, and kicking asphalt simultaneously. ICE! Advil and more ICE. Okay stretching as well, but lots of ice.

Running? Last week was not the miles I was hoping for, but I was able to do get in a nice maintenance week of 19 miles. This week I am hoping to get back above 25. With 35 or more weekly, for the month of March.

Overall, February will be called a recovery month. Yep, I will admit, mentally speaking I am still recovering some from my disastrous Surf City race. I have been thinking, given my age, past injuries and frankly my available time - HM's might be the longest race I do anymore. In addition adding more 5-10K events. I wish there was more 10 milers around - my favorite distance right now.

Yikes! what am I thinking! Get off my butt and run!! I need to at least get in 2 - 26.2's a year before 65. I am not ready to retire at 46. Yet, sadly my body aches and pains are calling ...... the one in my head seems to be yelling the loudest.

Cheers!

BTW - thanks for all the new visitors and comments on the Blog the last few weeks. Fun! Love the comments.

I like 10 milers too. Well I liked the one I did. It seems like the perfect distance as that is when I fade in half marathons. I wish they had more around here.

Interesting...even though our parents and inlaws are around to watch the kids, it never seems to happen that BOTH of us go somewhere together while the kids are being watched. Lat time was to see a friend who had a baby at the hospital. Ha!

HMs are a fun distance and a challenge. We do what our bodies allow. :)

You'll bounce back!!! It is a bear to juggle all the family needs and regular running but you know it's worth it. Here's hope you get a vaca soon!

10 mile runs are the greatest. I wish there were more races of that distance.

Yeah, I'm a little worried about what will happen to my activities when my kids start having more of them. We'll see!

I like ten milers too. There's one coming up in March that I'm considering signing up for as a training run, just for the fun of running with other people for once. And I'm with you: 26.2 is a great distance, but sometimes we all forget it's not the ONLY great distance.

Hey Slomo, thanks for leaving the nice comments on my blog. We are SO excited! It's going to be different being a parent in my late 30's rather than my early 20s. Your perspective on things changes so much as an older parent.

We could really use a vacation too, I would love to go somewhere nice, warm and sunny. Especially before the baby gets here!
