1. Sandwiches. Not just any ole thing with a slice of bread on top and bottom, with stuff in between. Our family is enjoying really good breads (sorry Happy Trails) Whole Wheat, Rye, Sourdough you name it. Great slices of meats, cheese's and LOTS of veggies in between. Yes, Mayo, however, when it comes to Mustard - we are Honey Mustard Dijon fans.
2. Yogurt. Pictured above is many brands of Greek style which are all yummy. However, I still enjoy Brown Cow as my favorite Brand. Or, as my kiddos call it - "cow puddy". Potassium, Vitamin D and Protein all in one container. I am a daily yogurt eater. At least one a day, however, when the weekly miles are up - 2 times a day. After a quick glass of Choco Moo, I down a cup of Brown Cow for my Fav-o-rite recovery fuel of choice.
3. We love Taters. All kinds and never stuck on just Russets.
Love them baked. Love them roasted with tastee creating Herbs. Love them Hashed, Scalloped and even dolloped with a soothing mash. Carb loaded with lots of Potassium.
4. Again not necessarily the brands shown. Peanut butter is my snack food. Spoonful totals a day - 3. Honey and Peanut Butter together on slices of whole wheat (cut into squares) is my personal home made energy bar of choice. Long runs for me are typically loops. Beginning and ending at the homestead. I make them before the run starts (usually for long one's over 10 miles). Sometimes with Banana slices and have the ready grab square ready, with a quick run to the fridge; and out the door again for the next loop.
5. Love Omelette's. Love them Scrambled. Love them Hard Boiled or Poached. The incredible edible egg. However, they have to be Free Range or I will not eat them Sam I Am. BTW - I prefer them Brown over Green with no Ham. Omelette's - only veggie please with spinach, feta cheese, avocado slices and tomatoes is all I need.
All this - is pretty much all I eat these days. Of course I wash it all down with my headache inducing Diet Dr. Pepper. All - right, I will keep this healthy - lots of ice cold H20.
What foods seem to be your staples of choice?
Cheers!
Yes, I did run yesterday and will today. 365 is on a roll.
