Thanks SuperKate for the second one of these taggings. I am not sure if I have another 11 14 :) in me, but here it goes ...
Now for another Bit of Slomohusky Randomness:
1. I'm still sick. Cold/Flu thing. Bit of a fever. Will the streak continue then? Will I actually run sick? Hmmm ...
will see?
2. Keep me away from a bag of Sunflower Seeds. As David Sunflower Seed Bags say, "eat, spit, be happy". How can you turn that down?
3. Keep a bowl of freshly popped, popcorn away as well.
4. My wife and I decided over 11 years ago to have a Parent home with the kids. I love being who I am so much - we decided tag - I'm it! I have been home with kiddos ever since. I have loved it. Now with the kids in school most of the day, I am going back to school. Not Law School :) (see previous post). I have decided to go back and do something completely different. Stay tuned. The adventure might just be Blogworthy all on it's own.
5. I collect Restaurant, Cafes and other hole in the wall establishment T-Shirts. If they have one for sale I buy it after eating, no matter how good or bad. My favorite is a Pizza place from a small town near the Washington Coast. It soon became my motto for life - "Seven days without Pizza makes One weak!"
6. I am sorry, but I really hate Sushi. California Rolls (I know doesn't really count) maybe now and then.
7. I have tried to be a vegetarian more times than my pea sized brain can remember. My downfall each time (not Sushi) Chicken. I really love a Greek prepared roasted Chicken. I made a compromise - 3 meatless days a week.
8. Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Food is my favorite.
9. Pizza is next. Piled high with only Veggies (sauce and cheese of course, with a hint of garlic and extra virgin olive oil; okay, maybe more than a hint).
10. I watch and see way too many movies, and know way too much about them. I would love to have a Movie/Film Industry Quiz Show with Martin Scorsese.
11. I read too many Travel Books to places I will probably never have the time to go too.
12. I want to own/run a Hotel/Restaurant on the Central Cali Coast some day. Anyone, who walks in with the best Story of life for the day, gets a free room and bowl of chili for the night.
13. I never do a race without my family being there. The one time I did - the Tucson Marathon - Failure. We nearly thought about doing Surf City this weekend without each other - all I had to say was, Tucson and we were all back on board.
14. Best advice someone gave me once in my 20's, "smell as many roses as you can my boy. You don't want to be 45 and have regrets of what would've been." I am 45. I have nothing I regret.
11 questions from SuperKate:
1. Did you have a favorite teacher in school? If so, who and why?
Yep! Several. Off the top of my head, four stand out. One Junior High and three High School ones. Mr. McElliott in 7th Grade English, moved me around more times in the classroom then he has ever had to do with a student. Telling my Mom once, "the further away from the front I moved him - the LOUDER he got!" The one who made the biggest impact, and fired up my academic curiosity was Mr. Hess my History Teacher of World Civ and of all things Russian History (yes, it was taught in my High School). He had two Master Degrees - one in Russian Studies and History. He was brilliant. He liked looking at History with the eyes of a detective. He was the first to open me up to the importance of so-called marginal historical events. Plus, a love for Russian Literature. He was also an excellent wrestling coach.
2. Suggest a great new Blog for me to read.
Rundangerously.
3. What's a favorite race memory?
Disneyland Half Marathon three years ago. My first race I trained for in 13 years. I did it in memorial for my big Sister who died of Cancer that Spring. Mile 10, just after running through Anaheim Stadium (The Big "A"). I honestly felt my Sister going along for the ride to the finish line, every step, from that point on. She keeps me running, along with my kids. She was a Teacher as well.
4. What kind of car do you drive?
My wife and I have two cars. Honda Accord and Chevy Suburban. The Suburban has 13.1, 26.2, Serious Case of the Runs (another great Blog to read), Running Freak, Surf City Marathon, UW Soccer, and my Soccer Association/League stickers/magnets on the back of it. So, guess which one I drive the most? :)
5. What do you imagine doing when you retire?
It will involve travel, running, serving others, and not much in the way of retirement.
6. Tell me a Happy memory of yours.
Wow, I kinda feel like I am on the couch with this one Doc? :) Every Summer vacation in my childhood for one, and every Christmas. My wedding day and each moment one of my kids was born.
7. What's something that has surprised you, about yourself?
Okay, another couch question. :) I really don't talk much, well compared to my wonderful wife. Yet, I can always find the right thing to say for most occasions or moments. I tell people it's because I watch too many movies and remember dialogue/lines well.
8. Do you have Brothers and Sisters? If so are you close to them?
Yep. 5 siblings, only 3 are living. The ones still with us, including me - we have been closer in the past. Not so much now. I think that is your quota of couch questions Kate? :)
9. What's something you like to make for dinner?
I do about 90% of the cooking in our home. Including dinners. I like making my Veggie 4 Bean Chili. My kids don't, unless I make nachos out of it. I enjoy making Thanksgiving dinner (traditional) and of course grilling.
10. Oops! I jumped over the Patrick saving you question.
Yes.
11. What's a good piece of advice someone gave you?
See my Randomness #11 from above. Also, my Dad always told me a happy life is a happy wife. Plus, one he stole from an episode of M*A*S*H, "...son change your underwear everyday and don't talk to crazy people. If you do that you will go far in life."
Thanks SuperKate. Been fun doing it again. I have no one to tag over the ones already from yesterday. Plus, this one seems to have gone around to everyone by now. However, if the Studly Runner (Marcia), rocksnroots, Amanda of Run to the Finish, or Paige, From a Serious Case of the Runs wants to jump in on all this fun - have at it. With the questions from the previous days post.
Cheers!
BTW - I did run today. 1 mile with stuffed nose, pounding headache and aching body. Keep kickin'!
