My personal Turkey Trot - see above. I was hoping to get in 6-7 miles. Ugh! I was toasted or roasted like a stuffed bird after 2 miles. I was an awful sweaty mess of mass.
Reason - antibiotics which react badly to the sun. I picked up a nasty Staph infection from a cut. It was a small one, but deep. The placement exactly on the top of a knuckle on a well used finger (not that one silly) made it worse. Hand in and out of pockets, soccer bags, back packs, doing dishes, laundry, playing with Husky puppy and whatever else I do .... well, it was a nasty exposed site for a few days. In that time a sore throat, body aches and temp of 103 degrees quickly had my Doc all over that tiny festering cut. A topical antibiotic treatment, two different orals had it, and me cleared it up in a few days. Plus, a reminder again on how seriously we need to take the smallest of things.
Anyway, on a cloudy day recently I was able to knock down some good miles while on the meds. Yesterday for TDay - near 70 degrees, bright and sunny! Not good, even though it was the very last day taking them.
The rest of the day - perfect. Home for the Holidays. Our own family together for the day of Monopoly, movies, football, other games, and of course FOOD! Yeah NO roadtrips, and airports! Just us in our humble abode celebrating ALL we are thankful for.
Appetizers - my wife did those. How can you go wrong with homemade Guac, salsa, and other dips. The best!
Turkey - my year to do the bird. PERFECT! Buying Fresh, Free Range, Organic Fed birds is the best way to go. Stuffing and ALL the other fixings for a great feast - perfect as well.
Gratitude - this entire year will be one of just that! I have a quest this year. I will be peering into the world of the so-called tiny, insignificant and small. Too much is marginalized these days. Too much information with very little time is the cause. We just have an excessive amount of stuff going on. Yet, does it have a purpose?
All this next year will be spent saying Hello more. Hello to things marginalized. Hello to things overlooked. Things we blind ourselves to in our everyday gotta do this and everything else in life - lives. Aspirations and Inspirations hopefully will be the outcome of it all. An even better Husband, Father, and Person to everyone around as well. Growth. Growth and progress simply by just saying Hello.
Cheers!

Looking forward to seeing what you find to say hello to. I'm big on missing the small things, so this might be something I need to read. Your holiday sounds great, except for the miserable run. Mine yesterday was very unimpressive, though the weather was great for running. I'm blaming it on recovery from Sunday's race (whether or not that's true :D)
Ah! Staph- no fun!! I am impressed you made it any distance with antibiotics.
Happy thanksgiving to you. Hope you and your family have a GREAT holiday season.
Slomo! HELLO to you! Glad you are back (I am hit or miss these days with my posts).
I agree, the free range, organic turkeys are way better (and the turkeys had room to roam and be free while they were alive!). Glad you had a nice turkey day; the weather was gorgeous here as well.
