Yes. I will admit it. Blogging has been the last thing on my mind for most the last few weeks. Been busy, little stressed and lots of soul searching stuff going. When these times come upon me - the last thing I want to do is blog. Or any other social networking that involves sitting any length of time in front of my ole PC. Guilt - yes - when there is too much to be doing.
Yet, with life stuff happenings - happening. I mean the big life changing, course changing happenings - happen. My communication circle shrinks to the very close ones who need to know or whom are directly impacted. Communication - yes. Just not a shout it from the roof tops kinda thing. Which to me - social networking/blogging is all about.
One thing is clear though. As the dust of it all seems to be settling, or as the ducks are lining up in their respective rows. A Constant. I love my wife. This I will cheerfully and respectfully shout from any roof top.
In addition, I am religious and love my Faith. I don't write about it much. Only because - well - as much as I would love everyone to feel the same about my Faith - many do not. Some who do not - can get too personal in this disagreement. Let me just say, My Faith. My Wife. My Family all I really need.
Running? NONE. Achilles stuff. The pain and recovery from it lasted longer this time around. Which makes me more sure it was the impact of whacking the heel/Achilles area hard against the chair leg. Did I tell you this was an unforgiving metal chair? It finally forgave me though. I was able to run a shorty 5K run last night with Husky Puppy. Trust me both her and I, after 16 days of not running - REALLY needed this one. Today, that same area feels slightly gimpy. Yet, the rest of me is ready for 10 more miles at least.
Reading about running? Okay, I FINALLY started reading it! Christopher McDougall's Born to Run. Not to say I am not a reader. Hardly. I read, yet my reading list is longer than the time I have though. Yet, I forced myself back into a good habit. A Habit of always having a book in the car, or pocket ready to read whenever I have any down or wait time. I will never give into an electronic reader. I love BOOKS. I am a nerd for the smell of pages in a book. I am also a HUGE public library supporter. WE will always NEED them if a Free thinking society is to exist. OOPS - off track - sorry. Back to the book. :)
Very well written and entertaining for the most part. Yes, McDougall makes some big jumps and assumptions at times. Yet, I like that - why not? It's only running and trust me it really shouldn't be taken all that seriously. Which is the point of the book. I still have a few more chapters to read of it. It has been nice ride reading it the last few days. One of my favorite parts was the build up to the Leadville 100 races and the backdrop of all that. Fun. Plus, I am going to give Chia a try.
On a completely different note - I have been doing a Lost marathon of late as well. Somehow that show - the first 2 seasons and most of Season 4 and 5 always keeps me going. The last Season was disappointing some. Season 3 - take it or leave it. There is also something about the smile on Penny's face. That whole Desmond and Penny thing a nice find. Plus, who doesn't love Hurly?
I have also been busy with ALL my kiddos. They have been running still as well. Plus, free movies, soccer in the park, water parks, amusement parks, and we had two birthdays this past month in our family. Fun!
That's all folks! Keep smiling and running!
Cheers!

OK...you can disappear every now and then- it is understandable. But not forever!
The LOST marathon...we did that a while ago, but now there are episodes I haven't seen.
Glad that running is going well again. :)
I started watching Lost but only got a couple episodes in before it got squeezed out by an online class I had to finish.
Sorry you haven't been able to run. Stupid chair, attacking you like that. :)
I really enjoyed Born to Run. It didn't make me want to run barefoot, but it made me look at ultras in a different way.
While we've missed you, we totally understand!! Come and go as often as you like :) Glad you are back for awhile!!

Hi Slomo!!! I totally get the not having time for blogging. My blogging time has been put on the back burner for the same reason as you. Sometimes there is just too much stuff going on and we need to make a choice. I am gla to hear that your wife and family are doing well:) The summer is just flying by...can you believe it is almost August???? Crazy how fast June and July went by.
Stopping by your blog has put a smile on my face! Take care of yourself friend!!
No one should change your opinion of faith and religion, it's who you are and I'm grateful I have mine and my beliefs!
Born to Run was once of my favorite books. I embraced the minimalist movement after reading it and am happy that after many long, yet persistant months of change, I am noticing huge changes in my Achilles and PF!
Never watched Lost, but I hear it is good.
Hang in there buddy I was talking to one of our mutual friends about one of those changes last week. We'll always be around for you.
