Family Home State Settled

Maryland was officially settled this date in 1634. It was named after Henrietta Maria, the queen consort to King Charles I. The settlement was first intended to be land for Roman Catholics persecuted in England.

Around 120 years later, some of the first known members of my Family settle near Fredericks, Maryland from Germany. Who were actually French Huguenots - ironic given the initial purpose of the territory. Several of them fighting in the American Revolutionary War. Yes, I am proud to say my daughter is an official Daughter(s) of the American Revolution.

11 years ago, on one of hottest Fourth of July's ever, I spent the night in Baltimore. If you ever have the chance to visit Maryland - try. It really is a beautiful State.

Cheers!
