I got this Flick. I understood the Dude. Still, it is not a favorite movie of mine. I am also not a HUGE Coen Brothers fan. I like some of their films, other ones seem too contrived. The Brothers also seem a little arrogant and tad pretentious in interviews these days. They lost me on the True Grit remake. It seemed unnecessary.
THE DUDE. Even though I got the Dude. NO WAY could I ever be the Dude. Although, in College wearing a robe while grocery shopping, was not out my lifestyle. At least in a post 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM sorta way. I like Jeff Bridges as well. He seems like an Uncle I wish I actually had growing up. Yet, two houses down the street from me, is a woman, who may be the Aunt I wish I had.
My wife has a slow leak in a tire on her car. Yeah, I know we can easily get it fixed. However, I HATE, the full court press sales tactics at the tire shop near us. They will fix any leak for free. However, they will find every reason possible to sell you a set of 4 new tires, whether you need them or not in the process. After 9-10 thank you's and "I think we can go another 10,000 miles without thinking 4 new tires will change our lives" - they finally give up and fix the leak.
Anyway, I have been getting up early every AM to check on my wife's tire. I always top of the air at little each time, and warm up the car for her. It is also quiet time for me. I can sit in the car away from sounds of waking kiddo's, listening to NPR on the radio for a minute or two. Yet, the last few mornings I have met a new neighbor.
Again pix, for refresher reasons:
This is her! She is Mrs. Lebowski, the Dudette. Same robe, boxer shorts and similar style T (differing colors though). Although, she tops off the look with a pair of fuzzy pink slippers. She is also letting her two muppet dogs pee and poop over everyone else's yard in the cul de sac while showing off her look. Yeah, not cool on the last one, but she stays out of our yard - I mean the dogs do. Man, I don't know if I should call her my next Best Friend Forever, or .... well .... hmmm .... call her my next best friend forever. She really looks like the above pix, minus the facial hair and adding the fuzzy slippers. I GET her. Especially in our neighborhood.
Okay, Hammies. Well at least one. My right. I have noticed something that I am sure ALL other runners have figured out by now. Well, actually, maybe not. I still read a LOT of blog postings about nagging injuries. Anyway, most all my injuries happen when I get around 250-60 miles on my shoes. NO matter the shoe or brand.
This time around, after a week of achy hips, lower back issues - my right hamstring went out sprinting with my Husky pup in the park. Truth be told the Hammy was sore at the time, or before the sprinting. NOW, throbbing pain and bad mobility for the last three-four days. My SLP wife, put on her PT hat and massaged the h-e-double hockey sticks out of it last night. She found some interesting other spots of pain on my butt cheek and the side of my thigh. Something, your spouse, significant other or trusted PT can find. PAIN!
This AM, I am actually waking up feeling a tad better. Yet, not much better. I am guessing this something is more than a little strain by now. Luckily, I have the time. Nothing race wise till May 1st. I will forgo the Labor of Love HM first of April. My heart was not into it, considering it would have been a scramble to get from the finish, to the soccer fields and coach the same day.
I have not had much in the way Hammie problems in the past. New one for me. Any advice out there? I am resting it a few more days and testing it Saturday AM with a shorty run. Been icing some, not much. Advil (not much help) and resting it. I have been walking the dog a lot still and walking is when I feel it the most. Running, not so much.
Oh well. Cheers! Have a great weekend a day early. I think I'll watch the Big Lebowski this weekend.
