Maybe I just love races. I love the expo, the feeling of being corralled with 25,000 other runners at 6:00 AM, maybe I am just losing braincells? Anyway, I DID register for the local Rock and Roll event this afternoon.
Yah, Yah I know some protester I am over the 145.00 charge. I was even too late to use some of the coupon codes floating around. So, yep 145.00 to run up and down the Strip (trust me I live here, not very exciting. Well, even if I did not live here - not very exciting). Anyway, by comparison Disney World Full Marathon cost 10.00 bucks less!
Oh well, I think a few blogging friends are running it - aren't you? Geez I hope? The other reason why - the day before is the Annual 5K Santa Run (yep the one where they try to break the record of x amount of people running in Santa Suits). It will be my own little Holidays in Las Vegas HO HO Challenge. However, by this time in my Marathon training (hopefully) I will be knocking down a few near 18-20 mile runs. So, kinda of mini one. The fun part is the 5K run begins and ends at a fantastic outdoor mall here in town called - Town Center. It is only mile or so down from the Mandalay Bay where the Expo is located and the start of the HM and Full are. It will be a fun weekend for our family. Plus, it all takes place just a short 12-15 minute drive from my abode. No 3-4 hr. drives to SoCal or cross country plane flights to Orlando required.
Oh, got in only 7.5 miles this AM. I run out of time. I found a friend halfway through my run that needed saving. A tortoise. Cute little guy with a really long neck. Sorry no Pix. He was in the middle of the road. It was not a busy one, but given his speed (a running speed I am familiar with) I needed to help him. After moving him I also had to gawk a little and see when the cute little head would pop back out. It never did. Maybe I will see him again. Rather run into him again than my scorpion or yet to see diamondback friends.
Great job Julie on your first Marathon. I would be celebrating! Hope your family is treating ya to something special? Pix were pretty fun. Hmmm.... maybe next year? Also, RBR, if you are in Vegas/Henderson area that weekend let me know! DV Marathon should be a fun challenge for ya. Anyone else doing Long Beach Half or Full other than BS (Meg), Glenn, Green Girl and myself? Should be a fun one look forward to it!

I might be running in the Vegas R&R too! My hubby has never been and wants to go badly. We just need to make sure that we can both get out of work and set time aside for a trip. It would be so wonderful to be able to meet up:)

I love races. We were talking about that this weekend. It's so much more fun to race with others, even if (in my case) you'll never be in contention for anything more than a PR.

I'm not actually registered for the race - I'm meeting a friend at mile 13 and running her to the finish. She needs a little extra support and I want to be there for her.

Yay! Looks like we should be able to have a decent sized runner/blogger meet up for Vegas. Heck ya. :) And too bad you didn't, wait, I just saw a $20 discount floating around for rnr events. :(
Oh, you're lucky! I've wanted to run one of the RNR halfs (or full!) for a while. I was injured for the inaugural Seattle RNR...

Short MIA report since you asked - family medical emergency in Iowa, Mrs HT hobbled - barely running, I'm running mostly solo, no need to blog and make people sad...
