Run Like Lightning, or at Least From It

Finished up a week of running Saturday evening. It ended similar to the previous week in mileage, yet each run was very different. I also only put in three runs for the week as well. Body Listening is why. The only planned run not run was a second 5K distance. One 5K, one 5 miler and a Saturday night 9 miler. Each run was pretty strong and nothing major to write about. Except Saturday's run.

It was a night time run. 90 degrees and a tad humid due to the storms in the area. Storms which could be seen but not heard or felt. Lots of lightning to be seen near the mountains and hills to North and West. It made for a nice electric Saturday night. I only heard one clap of thunder though and no rain. Yep, disappointed by the last one. Rain would have made the run perfect.

Also another week of no pain. Except for one moment hitting some really uneven pavement. It shot some definite pain through my peroneal tendon. It lasted about a quarter of a mile. Yeah, I was thinking my comeback was going to pretty short lived. It subsided, I slowed my pace and finished. Yesterday, no pain the day after. Still, I cannot help feel, anything real jolting or uneven surface run for any length - will hobble me again for another 2-3 weeks. The tendon seems tenuous.

I am sure you have noticed the lack of postings of late. It dawned on me yesterday while reading some Blogs. Just a phase. Busy with a lot of things right now. The Blog used to keep myself accountable, yet I don't really need that tool anymore. I don't need to blog after each run giving lots of numbers and info about what I have done. That just doesn't work for me anymore. It takes the fun out of it as well. Running is a way of life for me now. I have no real  day to day goals with it other than to have fun and live my life doing it. So, a weekly posting is about all I have in me right now.

Oh, on the same note. I closed my last entry talking about 66. First, I have a thing for double numbers. 22 and 44 especially. Since I was born in 1966 - 66 is a fun number for me as well. I have decided to run my last and final run on the 66th day of my 66th year. It will be at least 6 miles in length. My official day of retirement from running. Of course I make this decision in my 44th year, 22 years away from my lifetime of running. I will just be walker, hiker and part time biker after that. Retirement planning is a good thing :).

Oh, and during these next 22 years - at least 2 full marathons a year for a total of 44. With lots of Half Marathons to go till then. The HM is my favorite distance. Yeah, I could be cute saying 3 in a year for 66 total at 66. The fact is I should have that and many more HM's by 66. I hope!?

Cheers! Have a great week!

I like the goals! I am having to revamp/tweak mine a little bit...we had some electrical storms here over the weekend as well. I always love a desert storm blowing in. Have a great week.

You'll have to run the Route 66 marathon then :).

All those numbers are making my head hurt. Lol. I'm not ready for math!

Cool lightning picture!

Glad you're feeling better still. I need to listen to my body better and give it a break. I'm taking it slow and easy this rest week! I still like checking in and posting my runs and times, though it'll be slowing in the next week as I go back to work.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

I love the number thing! Like today, it's 8/9/10. I love quirky facts like that. Happy to hear that your pains are on the way out, Yay! Listening to your body; it's funny it takes so long to learn that!

Even numbers are always more soothing too - ever notice that? Too bad you had no rain - we have been in our monsoonal period, with rain almost every day for a couple weeks now. BTW - K was born in '66 as well.

I like half marathons the best too!

In answer to your question Slomo - that last part of the climb involved some power hiking just because of the 20% + grades. But the majority of the loop was running, although not as fast as some of our other routes because it was the first time running most of it and it is fairly technical. Thanks for asking!

Great to hear that things are going well for you - especially on the injury front. As Log Beach gets closer let's plan on getting together. My son will be running as well this year.

66 sounds a little young to give up your running shoes!
