Old and Slow

Yep, I am feeling something different last few days. Okay, a few days worth of runs a trend does not make. Yet, last night (okay it was way late last night 11:00 PM) I had my sloowwest run in many months. I was dragging beyond dragging could be called just that.

Outside of the running as well, I have noticed something over the last few weeks. My body hurts sometimes in certain places when I stand up from sitting any length of time. Certain Places, you ask? Well, I will keep one of those places to myself. Yet, my lower backside feels some aches along with it.

My wife is trying to convince it is not age - her best acting job has been required (sarcasm key reminder ;) ). Her big reminder is how much gray my hair has now. With the stabbing feeling of an elbow into my side - she always points out, "it is almost as if it all popped out overnight as well." At least I have hair.

I am also feeling it on the Soccer fields just coaching. Things I could do with a Soccer Ball instructing just last season - are harder for me this season. I may need a much younger assistant soon to help out.

Okay, I sound like a whiner. Honestly I am not. Just observations. In no way will it ever keep me from running. Only something completely debilitating could cause that. Plus, even then, I think I would find a way out the door in my NB 1062's.

Yet, as I got excited over the re-issue of Exile on Main Street (my favorite Rolling Stones Album). I saw Mick with Larry King yesterday. The guy still looks at least the same age he was when Some Girls was released (that is Mick not Larry King ;D). If he can stay young .... ?

Cheers!

Give yourself some credit Slomo - You still look like you get be Jagger's grandchild (of course some of that, I suspect, is cleaner lifestyle ;-) ) My grandma used to say, aches and pains are reminders that you have not sat around doing nothing your whole life. Keep kicking it - you have some great adventures coming up!

Hi Slomo,
I feel the same way:) I have been running slower than usual this entire week. It has been warmer here and I don't know if that has something to do with it or if it is me. I have been pretty tired over the past few days have little energy. Don't feel bad about the gray hair...there is always hair dye:) I always say, "God bless hair dye!" I have to go in every four to five weeks to get mine covered up:)

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend Slomo!

Hi! I am new to your blog. I saw your "controversial" comment on another, nameless blog and became intrigued. I also feel old, very old!

"Dragging beyond dragging" well put Slomo. That is one for the running book Hall of Fame. Sounds like you need a change of pace (no pun intented. Me, I have lots of grey hair and I am proud of it. Be proud Slomo, you work hard all the time you are allowed some dragging time!

Ha ha! Getting old sucks. I should know - I have a few years on you.

Slomohusky - take care o fyourself. One thing we ned to do as we age is slow down a bit and pay attention to what our body is telling us. No harm in running a few less mile or a little slowe. If we do we can last wuite a while - I run with several people in their 70's in my running club. Heck - our coach is in his late 60's!

SLOW DOWN? Was that GLENN just telling you to slow down? Seems like he's always off doing a zillion miles a week...and maybe you should try NOT running after it's bed time! Only Dean Karnases can make the mid-night running really work.
I saw that LK, too. I agree, Mick doesn't age but LK...poor guy.
