Two in a Row!

First, sadness in my musicworld. Alex Chilton died yesterday at the age of 59. He was member of the band The Boxtops in the 60's. Yet, for me and most, he is remembered for Big Star. A group which only released two albums in the early 70's. None of them were popular at the time of release. Yet, would grow an enduring respect among critics and alternative music fans of later generations. Alex Chilton had a huge impact on later artists like The Replacements, The Posies, and many others. The Replacements revered him so much they have a song titled Alex Chilton in his honor. There is a recent Big Star box set released with previous released material and never released recordings which would've been a third Big Star album in the mid 70's.

Running. This AM I put in another 3.5 mile run. Well, it felt like a jog, but my time was actually faster than the previous 3.5 miler on Tuesday. More importantly the ankle feels good. I had soreness before the run, but in the first .5 mile it improved. NO pain after that, and decent push off the ground. Post run I have not had any pain. My lower quads on the other hand felt tired. Getting old. Two weeks off from running 30-35 miles a week and my legs feel tired and sluggish. Although, I will say this - I am barely breaking a sweat at these paces and distances.

I am going to do one more low mileage, lower pace run than start build up the mileage again slowly. Which obviously is taking a big hit. Not sure I will reach my yearly mileage goals now. I have only done 12 miles for the month of March. Oh, well. At this point I am glad I am running! I am still hoping to do the Lake Havasu Half Marathon April 10th. Well, only if I can get a sub to coach my Soccer teams. After that, maybe I can still shoot for the OC Full Marathon, but will most likely just do the Half.

Slice of Slomo Happiness:
1. Always hard working, always enduring and never faileth wife.
2. My little 4.5 year old happy guy. The most sociable soon to be 5 year old ever.
3. Granny Smith Apples. Perfect color for a fruit. Well, after a Mango anyway.
4. Well run Youth Sport Leagues.
5. Big Star
6. Smell of Tide Laundry detergent and Bounty April Fresh Fabric Softners. Yes, it was midweek Laundry Day yesterday.
7. A nice Irish Dinner
8. 77 Degrees Mid March in Vegas.
9. March Madness
10. Go HUSKIES! My UW Huskies play Marquette today. I also root for any other Pac Ten Team (Cal), KU and KState as well. Just not as hard.

Cheers!

Yay Slomo! I am so very glad that you are doing better. That's awesome news. Keep at it slowly, don't overdo it. I'm sure that I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.

BTW-your Vanilla Ice pic cracked me up. I had totally forgotten about that insane character from my past. :)
