Okay, I would have used much stronger language in my title. Yet, I am a family guy. I had great parents who taught me good manners. However, I am hating this whole injury thing. Yes, I know - who doesn't?!
Somewhere in the above diagram is my problem. I am not believing anything anyone says about it now. It doesn't feel like any ankle sprain or ligament/tendon issue I have ever had. One, nothing is swollen. It just hurts like the blazes with every step from just near and below my ankle to the back of my foot.
I finally decided to go through proper channels and get an appointment with my actual Doc. "Umm ... lets see Mr. Slomohusky, umm the soonest she can see you is March 19th." Okay, thanks I said. Pretty much what I figured. I can go to an Urgent Care Clinic yet since they completely botched the last Ortho injury diagnosis I tried to get 2-3 years ago - they became the sore throat and cough care clinic ONLY.
There is the ER? I just can't. I feel so awful for the REAL ER visitors - I just can't go limping in saying I woke up out of bed 3-4 days ago and it has hurt ever since. So, see me now! ER's are for people with Heart Attacks, Strokes, Car accidents, Open wounds from slicing and dicing carrots, and small kiddos with peas up their noses. Not grown adults hurting themselves getting out of bed.
Anyway, I think I made my injury worse coaching last night. It feels worse this AM. I have lunch with my wife planned. I will see if a PT friend of hers can see it at her realworld. She runs a lot. Maybe she will know?
All in all, just hate the medical service one gets in Las Vegas. Not enough Doc's and the ones we have - well - just say we have lived in areas with better ones. Although my personal Doc, if I can ever get into see her - very good. Guess that is why it is so hard to get in?
Cheers!

What about Urgent care? Tell em you can barely walk.
I feel for you Slomo. I know how frustrating it is to have an ache or pain and not know what it is.
Good luck with that whole doc thing. Have you tried Superfeet? They rock. I just bought a new pair the other day and wow all of my foot pain just magically disappeared!
I still say give it some time. Not that I'm the expert but ankles are just really weak and maybe it just needs some time. But rest assured, health care bites in all states, I'm afraid. Hang in there, buddy!!
Hi Slomo,
I am sad for you because you are dealing with a bummer ankle:( Take care of yourself!! I am sending you healing vibes:)
At this point until you can get into a doc, it might be better to treat it as a stress fracture. What is the treatment for that? Stay off of it! I know that's hard to do with coaching duties. Do you know anyone who could let you use a boot to take the pressure off? Injuries really do bite especially when you do not know what is the injury is besides it hurts. :-(
I sense the frustration on you Slomo - hang in there, and don't get a wild hair and take off running! I agree with Tara - call and tell them your leg is about to fall off, maybe they'll get you in sooner.
Or tell them that your injury, if left untreated, will cause a wave of mass depression from bloggers in various regions who cannot go without Slomo's cheerfulness.
Ugh! I know where you are coming from... Had a foot injury last January that kept me off my feet for 6 weeks, lots of deep water running, swimming and biking kept me sane. Give it time, and most important you have to stay off your feet. Crutches were my friend for a bunch of time. Good luck and keep up the positive attitude!
I think you are wise waiting for an ortho consult. Are you taking anti inflams? Not an analgesic - but an NSAID (motrin). Everything you are explaining here sounds like tendonitis....
