Trust me, I am not complaining! I left the house around 5:00 AM and it was 48! 48 degrees! What was it Seymour Skinner yelled and danced from the bell tower of Springfield Elementary when Selma kissed him. I think it was Kaloo Kalay. Yes, no more dreaming of running inside my fridge after a stupid hot Vegas summer of running. It was also the fastest 10 miles I have done in well - I don't really remember? It felt good. Strong run. Faster pace than my Disney Half. Left the house wearing long sleeve Seattle Mariner T, Miami Dolphins Cap, and shorts. It was downright cold feeling at times with the 5-8 mph breeze. However, by the time the sun was up - oh it was soooo perfect, or Kaloo Kalay!
My wife just called feeling proud of her hubby as well. I ran a route near one of her Hospitals. She called to tell me four people said they saw me. One told her - Man, your husband looked good out there. He's got some great legs. It is always nice to hear compliments. Especially, on those days halfway thru I want to lay down on the nearest patch of grass and sleep for 3 hours, or until a dog uses yah as a fire hydrant.
Speaking of dogs, RocksnRoots, very sorry for the loss of your four legged running partner and friend. However, it has brought me back thinking our family needs a dog. As I commented to him it has been a long while since I have had one. I think 15 years. I grew up in a home that had two Alaskan Malamutes and one Collie (yes, it looked just like Lassie). Great dogs. When the last Malamute had to put down due to a really bad genetic hip problem - I was toast. Emotionally toast. I was pretty attached to this dog. I just really love that breed. Great pets, social, loyal, playful - big teddy bears. So, I am looking at an Alaskan Malamute pup again. Not a Husky. The two breeds get confused as being one and the same. If any of ya know of a good/respected registered breeder let me know.
Okay, so maybe it was that cold this AM? It has me thinking I need an Alaskan Malamute in Las Vegas?!
Cheers!

Yep, you do need a dog but one with less...fur. I can't imagine you running with a teddy bear in the heat...you might get picked up for pooch abuse!
Do men get "cat calls?" I know your wife called but I've always wondered if women(or men...)call out to male runners. Wow, maybe I should ask BS too.
Kids need a dog...keep us posted. We have a wild Jack Russell and she literally pulls me for 6 miles but she is LIKE having a third child so...you might not want to consider her breed...
There are many Huskies and Malamutes here in Vegas. Our neighbor has one. They have several coats of fur. The insulating coat for the cold sheds when in the heat, and the other coat acts like any other dogs fur during the heat. It is no thicker than any other breeds in the heat.
It has happened, but I think it is laughter as to why this short, fireplug looking guy, with the short legs is running?
Hey - wait a minute. There aren't any leaves on those trees! Must mean autumn really is here!
I know what you mean about meeting new folks at these events. The best part of these large races is all the socializing the evening before! I have a 20 person Tweetup (bunch of folks from Twitter), and another 20 person Runner's World forum dinner Saturday night. Woo hoo!
Glenn - The photo was taken in Seattle last April.
Have fun. Runners are far more social than people think. I have also fun runners are smarter than your average bear as well.
