My wife and a few of my kids are playing with or working out to the Wii Fitness program. I was noticing how nice the courses were for the running portion. More exciting than my typical routes. In fact, on my last one, the only real excitement (well outside the fact I did complete the entire 9 miles running) was the fantastically clean Mens Restroom at the newish Sinclair Gas Station along the route. Which, in fact, is really good to know! I just got through reading about runners peeing down their own legs while in stride during races or long runs. Sorry. I am not going there. Would not even think about. The thought of it trickling down my leg and eventually pooling or soaking up in my socks/shoes - koo koo kachoo. Not for me and you.
I did it though. It was slow going, but I did it. Thought about placing a water somewhere along the half point, but I ended up just holding onto a water bottle while running. Which I am glad I did. It was a very dry night. I usually check the local weather at the 8's on the Weatherchannel before I leave the house. The humidity was - well - only 9% I was needing the water before the halfway mark. In fact not only using the very fine Restrooms for well - you know? - I refilled my water bottle as well (with H2O of course!). Drank nearly two bottles full of water along the way. All in all, satisfied. I finished at the pace I knew I would. However, almost to the mile, the last mile was a slogging gruel. Started to feel a pain on the back of my right leg. Couldn't quite tell if it was the Hamstring itself. The pain felt all up and down the leg not just the back of my thigh. However much it bugged, I pushed through it and made to the end.
I rewarded myself with a Peanut Butter/Honey/Banana Sandwich and tall glass of OJ (or three). I was very exhausted by the time I got into bed. Probably a good thing. Was not too excited to watch the Netflix Mom and Dad offering for the Weekend - Night in Rodanthia (or something like that). No identification with any character in the movie. Most of the cast seemed too old for each part and put together at the last minute just to complete production. Pretty transparent Hollywood attempt at something meaningful. Anyway, very tired and slept very well all night.
The next day, yesterday no rest. Three Soccer games spread out all through the day from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM. I coached the midday one for my daughters team. It was a first for us all. Her playing and me coaching. The coaches ref! Meaning, we are coach, ref, cheerleader and ball snagger all the whole time running up and down the field trying to keep up with 5-6 year old girls. Yes, they can run folks. So, last night after the last game was over for more my oldest, plus late night family dinner at Jason's Deli - I crashed. Slept great for three hours till the sound of the overhead buzzing Vegas Metro Police Helicopter woke me up. Whomever, they were trying to get or whatever happened - did not seem worth it to me last night. I did not get back to sleep till very early this AM.
So, basically I am toast as I type this entry. Not only am I very tired, but calves ache along with my hips. The back of my right leg feels okay though. "Come on Dad you can do it. I want to see you do Wii Fit tonight?! Come on? You don't even have your own Mii for it yet?" Oh, thanks blogging. You got me out of it! Typing - my Savior for the moment. I love my kids though! Goodnight folks. ZZzzzzz's await.
