At least indoor. Elliptical trainer run/workout for 4 miles. No pain and only concern was the near constant crunching sound coming from the back of my left knee. Went away after the first half of the workout. Slight pain in the right ankle area this AM waking up. That's all. I think I am officially back at it. I might go for a pavement run tonight for 3.5 miles and see how things go. Don't usually do the back to back runs these days, but last nights run seemed too easy. Always up for something more painful on the legs - or should I say challenging?
My three year old all this AM has been saying he is at the beach or wants to be at the beach. A hint? Nice one if it is. Problem though is the lack of beach in Vegas. Oh plenty of sand, but not much in the way of large bodies of waters. There is Lake Meade nearby, but I am not a fan. The whole Lake Meade thing looks very much like the body of water crashed into by the crew aboard the ultra-cool looking spacecraft in the movie The Planet of the Apes. In fact, it is almost. That Hollywood Heston carrying craft landed into or fell with style into Lake Powell. Which is pretty much Lake Meade just further up the dammed clogged Colorado River. Oh, and behind a different Dam than Hoover called Glen Canyon Dam I believe? Anyway, real beach - the Cali Coast is close but not close enough. However, I think my toes need some beachtime sand in between them soon. Don't think I can wait till my restful day after the Half 'thon in May.
Yes, I am still going to get this tub of goo that is my body across the finish line for the OC Half. If I have no major injury, I am all signed up and ready for my Pre race Expo. Can't wait to buy my own 13.1 sticker for the back of the car at the Expo. I have run a half before, but never thought of getting too prideful as to actual buy a sticker for the event and have it sitting there on the rear end of my car. Oh well, life changes.
I find myself getting prideful at times. Pride can be a bad thing, however, I think we can have some indulgences. Pride in my wife and kids I think is a must. So is running for me now. Used to be something I would do two-three times a week half the weeks of the year, just keeping the extra goo off. Now I run more than that, yet the goo doesn't seem to go away anymore. At least I have that pride? Or, hopefully a 13.1 sticker for the butt of my car.
