Need some bright red to wake me up. This past week mileage total was 24. Put in five days last week with three in a row. Today, Monday, not feeling too great. Physically my legs feel tired and tight after my early AM 4.5 miles. Not sure why? One additional day last week should not mean too much. However, yesterday I was instructing a lesson at Church. On my feet a lot for that and the entire day. So, that might be why?
All in all, I think I need a change. Uninspired run this AM. I was there. I did it, but yippee. Just could not get excited about running in place even though my comfort level is nice on precor buddy. It is probably time. I will make the transition into road miles by buying a new pair of shoes.
I am using Brooks Beast currently. I like them overall, however, I am wondering if my shoes might the issue with the sore ankles. Will do some shoe research and shopping. Vegas might be the mega capital of - well - Vegas lifestyles. It is not a Mega Capital of good running shops or shoe outlets. There is one called the Runners Village, and I will give them a good plug here. It is smallish. They do go 2-3 deep in Brooks, New Balance, Asics along with a few Nikes. Reality says you might not find the one you need in those 2-3 though? They do seem to be the only game in town. There is a New Balance store and that's probably all that needs to be said about that. I can't be too harsh on them. My Sister works at one for some extra cash for her family. They are over priced and never have anything that would make me pay inflated prices.
Overall, Vegas just is not the most exciting place for running. Nice weather for it 8 months of the year till it gets too caliente. This view of Vegas maybe impacting my more overall feeling about living here. Desert life is waning. Like to see more green and a change of season or two as well. Red Rocks are nice and I love Palm Trees, but - well - maybe I just need a vacation? A vacation from Vegas or just running? Not sure? I think I will go the former than the latter. Precor facility will be closed Thanksgiving and open half a day Friday though. So, I will stay plugged in tomorrow and Wednesday than take a break till Saturday. Saturday I will shoot for a nice Anthem Highlands run with it's million dollar views of the Vegas Strip and Valley.
Still with Turkey Day coming I need take a moment for gratitude. I have a pretty great life. Wonderful and Intelligent wife who along with my kids is my joy. Only slightly more neurotic than I am is she. Which is a plus to be honest. Smart, adorably beautiful kids who make life athletic even when I am not running. Been able to live in Seattle for over 30 years. A great place to grow up and live. Loving parents who gave me a great start on life. Been able to live in the Midwest and can honestly say calling yourself a Kansan is compliment. Vegas has been good. Nothing bad has happened to us and we can always find something to do here. Living close to my favorite place on earth - Cal. Coast makes it more than livable. Knock on wood we continue to be able to care for our needs and have the opps to do so always. Also, remember the Greatest thing in the World is....? The World itself.
Still with all that said - I need to find my laugh again.
