It will happen today. Although my wife was confused. The 4:45 AM (actually 4:35, my wife likes to set clocks 10 minutes ahead in our house) came and went. However, my body did not, which she nicely reminded of with her "is everything alright - you did not get up" line of questioning at 6:45 AM (or is that 6:35, I am so confused around here).
Early AM workouts are my favorites at the Gym. I can sweat away pretending I am going somewhere while I am watching Vegas wake. Or, go to sleep. It is Vegas folks so who really knows what goes on with all that glitters on the Strip at 5 AM. Anyway, I will be their tonight putting 35 mins on the Elliptical machine of my dreams. Hit the weights for a few sets of this and that. Before I leave 15-20 minutes on the treadmill. I do this routine twice a week. The others involve just me and my favorite Precor for at least 50 minutes two -three other times a week. However, things change tomorrow.
Tomorrow my early AM will be an actual run on both concrete and asphalt. With a little Vegas gravel and desert thrown in as well. If my ankles don't tell me I am either too fat or old for this anymore, I should find a few furry long eared rabbit friends along the way. Are they called Jack Rabbits? Not sure? Don't care as long as they don't pull a Monty Python and the Holy Grail on me while going for my neck. "What the rabbits?" Amazing. Most think the wildlife of Vegas is something more human in a vice related way. Oh behave.
Anyway, the last few attempts on pavement have given me little joy and more pain in the ankles I care to have. No matter how much I stretch before and after. Sometimes stretching a mile into the run will make it all go away. Will see tomorrow? Length of the run? That will be determined tomorrow. So stay tuned. It might be 2 miles it might be 5. I might see rabbits or others bad habits along the way. Who knows but as long as I have the image of a running hero I don't know running 26.2 with only one real leg, the other prosthetic - I will make it happen (by the way, real story, and I think she has also done the Iron Man in Hawaii). Actually just knowing both Al Gore and Oprah have done this tells me this is not athletic rocket science.
