My Running Partner and Why the Boulder City Parade Rocks!

Our baby is all grown up!

To this :

Yep she needs a bath. She had a fun one in the sprinkler and mud the day of this pix. Yes, she also gets to play on our bed, even after all that.

The best thing, no matter how much I love puppies - our Husky Puppy is starting to calm down now. She is still fun with a great personality, however we have less jumping all over us now.

We do two, sometimes three 5K runs a week. Even in ALL the heat! Post run, I fill up her water bowel (trough) with half water. The other half - ICE! She LOVES it. She loves running. As soon as she sees me in my running shoes and shorts - she does her HAPPY RUNNING dance. We have 4-5 pee breaks a run, and at least once a week something bigger. Yes, I carry poop bags. Once it cools off, we will push the 5K's to 5 milers. For right now though 5K's hit the spot with her.

On July 15th, I will be turning 45 years, she will be turning 9 months. Happy Day!

4th of July Parades!

Love them. Well, only if they are in a small town. I grew up in a town North of Seattle that really celebrated the 4th. Parade, town picnic, and fireworks.

Boulder City is our adopted 4th of July town while living in Nevada. Pancake Breakfast in the morning, Parade at 9:00 AM, Picnic and Games in the park afterwards, then music and fireworks at night.

The Parade is the place to BE though. Mainly for this :

WATER FIGHT!!!

Yep! my kiddos were front and center in it all. Runner Dude #1 and #3, but the BIG surprise was how much Runner Girl got into it this year.

In the above pix - off to the right of Runner Dude #1 was the cutest scene. The lady in red was a Grandma who really wanted her Grandaughter to get into it like Runner
Girl. The Grandma was a blast.

The Parade starts out a normal affair as 4th of July Parades go. The Governor, Brian Sandavol (Republican) was even leading the way - too a few boo's. Boulder City is a bastion (the only one in the State) of Democrats. The Gov's cutting of Education funding is NOT popular in this end of the state.

Anyway - it ends with one big town, water fight. Very nice since it is usually 102. This 4th, it was only 90, cloudy and muggy.

We ended the day of course with Fireworks and my wife's Fried Chicken in the Park at Boulder City. A very Happy Day!

Cheers!

That is a good thing...to carry poop bags :D

That looks like a FUN 4th of July! We love small town celebrations too. Fried chicken and the 4th go hand in hand.

HAPPY early BIRTHDAY!

That parade looks like a good time, and oh my goodness your puppy has grown! Our dog is 7 now, but he is still as excitable as a puppy. Wears you out sometimes, but he sure loves to run. He has a hard time in the heat, though, so he's not running too far these days.
