I need to get this one out of the way before I move on. Meaning Christmas is slowly but surely ("and don't call me ....") further and further in the rear view mirror. Today, sicko kiddo's a aplenty. Two on the recover, yet with a lingering hack of barking coughs. The other two, in the middle are coming down with it. Yep, a fun house to be in right now - eh?
Anyway, my Christmas List. Sorry, Santa not that kind of list. Top 5 on each - Christmas Movies, TV Specials, Music and a new one - Treats. My brand new 5 extra pounds has made me an expert on eating them. :)
MOVIES
5. (Tie) Christmas Vacation - Cousin Eddy at his best. Never knew Squirrels could be soooo terrifying.
5.(Tie) The Family Man - does NO one remember this one takes place at Christmas? Nice story on a theme I like a lot - what if your life didn't happen or you took a different bus that day (Bill Cosby reference). Still think Don Cheadle is too cool. The little girl of course melts your heart.
3. Christmas Carol - many, many versions of this classic Dickens story. I think I have seen them all from Mr. Magoo's (miss Jim Backus), Albert Finney's Musical, Henry (The Fonze) Winkler, Bill Murray's (surprisingly my least favorite), Mikey Mouse, Muppets, Patrick Stewart, George C. Scotts (my second fav.), Robert Zemeckis and many others. Yet, when it comes to this classic - the classic of them all is still my favorite with Alistair Sims.
3. Elf - I try to live my life after Will Ferrell's teachings in this one.
2. It's A Wonderful Life - George Bailey. Not much more needs be said. Other than a character I have grown to appreciate over time more than most.
1. Love Actually - smart movie, dialogue and characters. Well acted and fun Soundtrack. A favorite ANY time of the year for me. Richard Curtis is a smart, funny man. He especially knows how to write for smart female characters/actors.
TV Specials
5. A Year Without A Santa Claus - yes, of course it is all about the Miser Brothers. Which one is your favorite?
4. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer - Abominable Snowman used to scare the ... out of me when I was 5.
"She thinks I am cute!!!" BTW, who names a reindeer Fireball?
3. A Wish For Wings That Work (Bloom County Christmas) - Bill the Cat!
2. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas - near tie for number one. Christmas just is NOT the same if I don't see this one. Chuck Jones was the best! You're a cool one!
1. Charlie Brown Christmas - from the Vince Guaraldi music to the now not seen old Dolly Madsion ads. Whenever the Peanut gang starts dancing - all of us try copy our favorite Peanut dance moves don't we? "MERRY CHRISTMAS CHARLIE BROWN!!!"
Music
5. (Tie) Holly Jolly Christmas - Burl Ives
5. Bing Crosby/David Bowie - Little Drummer Boy
4. (Tie) It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Andy Williams
4. (Tie) Happy Christmas (The War is Over) - John Lennon
3. (Tie) O Holy Night - Nat King Cole
3. (Tie) God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Nat King Cole
2. (Tie) Baby It's Cold Outside - Dean Martin
2. (Tie) Santa Claus is Coming to Town - Bruce Springsteen
1. The Messiah - Handel
Treats
5. Almond Roca (Home Made)
4. Peanut Brittle (Home Made, and both 5 and 4 I cannot eat anymore due to Diverticulitis orders)
3. (Tie) Candy Cane (peppermint) covered pretzels from Trader Joes.
3 (Tie) Terry's Chocolate Orange Balls
2. (Tie) Brachs mint soft taffy like candy with Christmas Tree in the middle (you know what I mean?)
2. (Tie) Lindt White Chocolate Balls
1. Sugar Cookies frosted and decorated by my kiddo's.
PS - Kettle Brand Potato Chips - Sea Salt and Peppercorn flavor is the gift that keeps giving year round!

I read on Facebook about favorite movies and everyone was putting Love Actually. I may need to watch it again. The Family Man was also on there which intrigues me more. My favorite song is Let It Snow! I love the movies White Christmas and The Muppet Family Christmas. And treats - I seem to like them all the way I am eating these days!
The Little Drummer Boy has never been one of my favorite Christmas songs, but our church did one at the Christmas service that absolutely rocked. I loved it.
Cool lists! I hope your kiddos start feeling better soon and you and your wife stay healthy.
YES! I love that taffy stuff!!! :)
Christmas time is probably the worst time for kids to be sick. At least they can rest and watch Christmas movies while they recover.
Your list is great :). I don' get to watch tv much at all but do love Peanuts and try to catch every one of them at each holiday (but sadly, missed Christmas - whaaa). I know I saw Love Actually, but I can't remember it. I may need to revisit. Thanks for a great list!
Love Family man with Nicholas Cage. Also watched Elf today!

Life lessons from Buddy the Elf are always good! Hope those sick kiddos get rolling on to better vibes here real soon. Not in the rear view mirror yet for us as the folks were hung up in Delta LaLa land and just arrived yesterday afternoon!
