Bits and Pieces Part XV: Too Much Time on My Hands, Too

Don't worry I am not turning my back on my kids while blogging. We are in the 4th day of their Fall/Halloween/Nevada Day Break today. I am sitting at the table tap, tap, tapping while they count their Halloween haul.

Here is a peek into my world right now :

Runner/Artist Dude 2, just announced today our official Happy Family Day (which means yay! Pizza for lunch!)Runner Dude 1, wants to know why he likes scrambled eggs, yet can't deal with hard boiled eggs. Runner/Soccer Girl is trying to decide which is better - chocolate Halloween candy or Skittles? ( I voted for BBRP - Butterfingers, Baby Ruth's, Reeses Cups and Payday's). Little Kinder Runner Dude is telling me how much he LOVES his kindergarten teacher and is sooooo sad (with a sad face on) he did not see her last night Trick or Treating (she lives near us). See, what an impact great Teachers can make! Oh, and the two cats are stalking each other and doing little kitty WWF sessions all through the house. I wish we had a dog sometimes. :)

Anyway, thought I would share a few pix of the kiddo's of late. Runner Dude 1 had his Bday recently, and here are the Halloween Costumes for 2010! My wife not seen, went as a Witch (no, she has no real alter ego desires). She has never been one, and said this year - A Witch! (Monty Python humor inserted here). I have been Capt. Jack Sparrow, a Gorilla, Thing 1 and Thing 2 (each in separate years) recently - but I ended up just being ME, after my Cat in the Hat idea was too complicated at the last minute to create.
Of course bunny ears always appear from no where it seems? :)

Miss Kitty and her Fire Breathing sidekick!

Sidekick going solo. He had a fun Halloween!

Death trying to get his ASICS on. Hey, even the grimmest of reapers needs to stay in shape. We are hoping the Grim Reaper thing is just a phase (Halloween only one).

Last but certainly never least - Sonic the Hedgehog. You can't see them, but we found the perfect red high tops for this one. He put this one together on his own. With only a little help.

You know there are times living in the shadows of all that is Vegas, when we feel as Parents - are we CRAZY for raising our kiddos here?! Yet, thus far, I think we are doing okay. Great kids! We love them! Just wish the State of Nevada would spend more on the schools though. Sorry, but it is election day tomorrow - hint, hint!

I am a rest day removed from my HM. Feeling stiff in all the right the places. Yet, I will push an easy 5 miler in tonight!

Happy Family Day or Happy Anything Day to all of you as well!

Cheers!

Well, I see your kids are young enough that they still like the "cute" costumes...and cute they are! Have a great day with them - sounds like the PERFECT day :).

Yep, you are doing a GREAT job, look at those smiles and if they love their teachers, they are GOLDEN. Cute costumes and what a yummy cake!
I don't think it matters WHERE you raise you kids, about WHO is raising your kids and you can answer that!

Your kids' smiling faces tell the story of your care for them. Geography can't wipe that out. Have a great Family Week Slomo!

Hi Slomo,
Oh my gosh, your kids are so darn cute:) I love the costumes! My little guy would of been Sonic...we couldn't find a costume for that so he settled for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle! It was so fun to watch Bray get ready and wait to go out trick or treating. My college boy came home just to take the little one trick or treating:) Can you believe that!?! It almost brought tears to my eyes. Those to brothers love each other so much...the best part about it is that they both had a blast!

Thanks for sharing the photos Slomo! They are so fun to look at:) You have a beautiful family!

We had the same doubts about raising kids here in OC. Must be a parenting thing. My advice? Be an example of who you want your kids to be and then trust them. They won't fall too far from the tree.
