Pre Race Report

Why am I doing this one? Ahhh... how I forget so easily. Actually, it is more like I quickly move on to the next one. At least with running. I don't dwell. There is always the next one. What the? What am I talking about? Oh this weekend's Long Beach HM?

It was supposed to be Long Beach Full Marathon for me this weekend. The three weeks of not running with the Achilles and ankle injury post Disney made this the Long Beach HM.

Gotta be honest - not overly excited about this one now. Mainly due to a lot going on this weekend. Races and Soccer Season don't work well for me. Plus, other commitments might make this a solo trip for me, with the rest of Me's staying here. We have not decided yet.

Other reasons - I love running California. Yet, Long Beach? Not one of my favorite places. Near the start and finish area things are okay. The course seems to be mostly along the Beach on the walkway. So, with that said, and a really cool looking medal for the 25th version of this event - go go go.

I am also slightly under trained for this one, but I say that having just done an HM little over a month ago. All my last training runs of the last 2 weeks have been in the 6.5-9 mile range so really not far off the distance. So, the plan for Sunday - my long run for the week. Nothing more. I will not be pushing any PR. The other Plan for Sunday - meeting Runner Blogging Peeps! Also, just enjoy I have the ability to do this and have fun. Life is Good!

To all who are racing this week - all my best! Good luck in Denver Tina. Good luck in KC to my runner friends there. Green Runner knock it down. Also, have a blast shooting down Provo Canyon for the Halloween HM - anyone?. Ah - Stacey how could I forget! Happy Pizza day to ya and enjoy the Tiffany in SF! See some of the rest of ya at Long Beach!

Cheers!

Hi EMZ - have you ever been to Long Beach? :) Running is always the best no matter.

Thank goodness for the blog world, where we can go on and on about our races and training and not see the eyes of our loved ones glazing over! Lol. I'm sure my blog helped preserve my husband's sanity from having to hear me obsessing pre- and post-race.

Good luck! Have fun! Can't wait to hear the full report. :)

All my best to you in your race. Yes, you're running it as a long run rather than a race, but that doesn't make it any less impressive - I can't wait to be able to do 13.1 miles again! I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful run :)

I'm going to be Mile 13 cheer support and then when my friend gets to Mile 13, I'm going to run her to the Finish Line.

I opted to not register for Long Beach since I'm doing a marathon at the end of the month.

(I realize I'm still running 13 miles but the girl I'm running in runs slower than me so this will be a good taper for me.)

A little pre-race luving going on in blogland today. I gave you a shout-out ... I didn't forget. That in itself deserves a blog post, perhaps?? Ok - go out there and kick some serious Long Beach butt. Forget the children and soccer and all your responsibilities - just get 'er done and get a BA medal. Oh, and have a blast!! Can't wait to hear how you do!!

Nice meeting you in the first miles of the LB Half (with Glenn TheRunningFatGuy). I was also semi-injured after the Disneyland HM.. pretty much fine, but undertrained. Only got in 2 mediocre "long" runs between the two races. But, we finished (right?). Anyways, hope it was a good day and nice meeting you.
