Happy 44th and Peroneal (not really)

I have this thing for making lists. I guess most do. It is a way to make some order, clarification or magnification of life. Above is a picture of my top athlete of all time - Jamie Donaldson. Any who know me, know the high place I put Lance Armstrong, Mia Hamm, Bo Jackson, Michael Jordan, Janet Evans, Ricky Henderson and Carl Lewis as athletes. 

Yet, with all due consideration when it comes to sheer will and determination which has always had Lance Armstrong number one for me - I have a new number one. Congratulations Jamie on a Badwater Women's  win for a third time in a row. She shattered her own women's record on the course and finished third overall as well. Great performance and for me the closet thing to Super Hero determination taking the human body to amazing feats.

I am a runner of sorts. All for fun and to keep myself actively engaged in something athletic. I also live in the desert near the Badwater course. I KNOW what 110 degree heat or more can be like. I know it's affect on my human body and mind. So, what all these Badwater runners are doing, especially Jamie is nothing short of real Super Hero powers at work.

Now, to my meagerness. I have one 44th Birthday wish today. I wish I could trade in some of my 44 year old body parts for the 24 year old versions. Right now it is my ankle again. The same injury I developed after Surf City is back. To be exact it is a Peroneal tendon. I started feeling some minor pain yesterday AM that progressed to severe pain before bed last night. Today, it feels even worse. Hard to walk.

May need to find some crutches for a week, and then an air cast or boot. From the first problem with this, my IT band, Hamstring issues and now this again - I think my body at 44 is trying to tell me something.
