All That Stuff Blowing in the Wind

I have lived most of my life in the beautiful, moist, green with abundant plant life Pacific Northwest. I have also lived in the Midwest with air so thick with humidity most knives could not cut. Yet, right here, in  one of the most driest places on earth my body chooses to have Allergies. I have heard all the reasons why - like there being no humidity to keep the pollens, dust or allergen's down. Whatever? Don't care, but I have them here. Typically they hit me in February. This year a little later and a lot more intense. Right now I feel like this some and a lot of this other one as well -

My Doc visit finally happened early this AM. You know the one for the ankle/foot. It was the visit with my own Doc (not the urgent care or co-workers of my wife) which I missed two weeks ago. Well, the foot is fine. So, I used the visit for the Allergies and a mole my wife was concerned about.

First the foot/ankle - she had an Achilles injury in the same area recently herself. So, she, not only being a Doc, also had real life on all the tissue in this area. I still have a few tweaks of pain now and then. She found one when poking around. Her feeling - still healing soft tissue injury and don't put in too many miles for another week. Keep it elevated and iced at the end of each day, especially after each run. Mileage - she left that up to me to figure out based on what I typically do. She felt it was Achilles soft tissue or could be. Both ankle and Achilles come together in that area of pain. Keep stretching the calves and taper miles when the calves get too tight. Wow, she sounded like a runner! Turns out she is. Yippee!

Allergies - very sympathetic and is specialty of hers. Gave me some meds for it, and said this too shall pass as you know. Yet, with the wet last few months here, it will continue to be a bad Spring for this.

Mole - will not say where it is, but she was not concerned. She even tried to freeze it all off in her office without seeing a Dermatologist. I need to see her in a few weeks for another look at it.

Okay, more info then the world needs to know - I know. Yet, I will say, she said you seem very healthy. Lost weight since my last visit, BP and HR all good and strong. Plus, she said keep RUNNING! Like I needed that one? :)

Running. 11 miles thus far this week. With a 5 miler for tonight planned and I guess just another 5 miler tomorrow. Remember I was asked to still keep the mileage down. So, next week, I will push things again. Trust me. I have lots of wonderful body abusive runs I have been thinking of lately. More trails being part of the abuse. Still have not pushed this 43 year old body beyond the point of no return (whatever that means or is?).

Did I mention the weather has been fabulous in the SW Desert? Sorry, Midwest and Rocky Mt. runners. 70's and sun. Windy at times. Next week - end of it - I heard the 80's make a comeback. You can all get back at me when it is 110 almost everyday beginning the end of June to Sept.

Fun blog reading the last few days. Congrats again to Glenn on the LA Marathon. Maybe next year for me? Keep the trails happy in Colorado, Happy Trails. Hope less snow for all of the rest of you in Colorado comes soon - Tara, Jill, Shut Up and Run and anyones else back there. Julie in Minnesota keep up the mileage. My wife and I enjoy all your pictures as well. Jerbear, keep sharing. Green Bay is in your reach! Plus, maybe a squirrel or two - you "Squirrel Bait" you. Boston Marathon runners  - when do you finally do it? Man, I think I have been reading about Taper for this one for a month now! :) I know a HUGE event and I am excited to read about your success. Have fun with that big Rabbit head of yours Meg. Happy Bunny Season!
Cheers!

Sorry for creeping you out with the rabbit head. The kids actually liked it once it was attached to the rest of the costume. I hope your allergies clear up, I guess it's just a part of spring. My daughter has them acting up right now too! Rest up on that foot/ankle so you can get back out into this gorgeous weather.
Have a great weekend!

Used to live on RX allergy meds until I found some naturopathic remedies that work well. Colorado is horrible just like NV for them. If you are ever interested in trying it out, email me for directions.

Glad the Doc visit was good - makes for good slices of happiness! Have a great weekend Slomo!!!

Allergies, yes for me they only came when I moved to Mississippi, maybe it was a bit of getting older too! My PT doc is a triathlete, (we even did some open water swims together) it makes a huge difference when the person treating you has an intimate knowledge of the issues surrounding the injury. Good job with the runs and keeping them under control while healing. Cheers!
