Thus far - kickass training. I like the schedule and runs. I mentioned I was changing the routine. Which includes fun runs with the kids for a mile (so far only one of my boys is doing it) on off days, running on the heavenly sent soccer field grass, hill runs and my usual flat 5 miler. It paid off today.
This AM best time thus far on the 5 miler. However, I must confess, I was slightly bored and well - had to prove myself to complete strangers. A couple was out walking the dog in the just after dawn minutes. I am not sure what it was about them, but I didn't like them. Tall, thin guy in shorts wearing long sleeve T, black socks, and walking while drinking down extra tall cup of Starbucks. He had a typical SW almost shaved head should be Mormon if he wasn't already look. However, the Starbucks, probably says he is not. His wife (assumption) was the holding the dog leash. Dog looked like a Boxer but was black. She could barely control the dog and the Starbucks sipping hubby was laughing. Ever see the face plant put on Kate Hepburn by Cary Grant? Really wanted her to do it to him while the Starbucks was in his face.
Anyway, my pace picked up. I could not think of two people I wanted to get away from more. Felt sorry for the dog though. After I got the pace up, I had a hard time shutting it down. BREAKTHROUGH! I hope. I was able to keep the pace going for most of the next 2 miles. It is the first 1.5 that kills. I just cannot get my ankles loosened up enough for a good start. No matter the stretches. Whenever, I am able to start fast and finish fast I'll take out everyone who reads this blog for whatever cures ya. Of course the cure needs to be one beverage and found at the local Whole Foods cooler.
Oh, the runs with my son have been a blast. If you don't have one - you need to get one. My 5 year old soccer daughter wants to start as well. Kids are great. They keep me young and athletic.
