Blowing in the Wind - Not For Me

I think my mileage for last week was about 14. I got in three runs or workouts. This past Friday was very windy. I think I mentioned in the past the Winds of Vegas. Pain in the lungs, and everything else. Breathing in blowing desert dust is not good. I spent Friday on Precor buddy for 4.5 miles. Very good pace. I wish all my runs could be slightly suspended above the ground, asphalt or concrete. Anyway, I was going to try another back to back run the following day. However, I gave in a pretty good workout back and forth on the soccer field with the Ladybugs.

They tied 6-6! It was quite a game for them. I also discovered something about 5-6 year olds. Short bursts of energy only. My daughter was fighting a cold, and really could not give much of an effort. Also, two other girls were saying how tired they were after playing 4-5 minutes - a first for them. So, in the second half, not wanting to burn my little Ladybugs out, my subs were more frequent and flexible. Wow, amazing. They came in with quicker bursts of energy and better play. Also, they only needed a few minutes on the sidelines to recover as well. Well, anyway it was a big one for me to learn as their coach. Someone out there in the WWW has been reading this blog. Yes, any advice you have in teaching ball handling skills to 5-6 year olds would be appreciated. Although, I will say, I think my Ladybugs - who have never played, being taught by a coach who never has either - are doing very well. Please, leave any advice you have in the comments section.

Well, running. Back at this week with a run tonight. No wind, but more expected this week. So, I will put in a longer run tonight, to get it in just in case things get windy later in the week. Shooting for mileage near 20 this week. I will also have a weekend trip three hours North for a family Easter outing. No Soccer games this weekend either. So, I will try and get all my running in by Friday evening. Will see?
